Your Pool Swim School  (YPSS) began in 2020 as the mobile division of Crossing Currents Aquatics - a trusted provider of aquatic programming since 2013 in Annapolis, Maryland.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, YPSS experienced high demand for mobile swim instruction in private pools. Families wanted a swim instructor committed to safe practices with flexible scheduling to accommodate their diverse learning pods. Instructors and clients both loved the accessibility and comforts of the residential learning environment and so it began!

Your Pool Swim School is excited to enter its 4th season providing the GOLD STANDARD of learn to swim programs with our dedicated American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors!

WHY IS WATER SAFETY SO IMPORTANT?

Drowning is the leading cause of death in children. It only takes a moment. A child or weak swimmer of any age can drown in the time it takes to glance at a phone or apply sunscreen. We believe that working together with our clients to improve water competency - which includes swimming skills and water intelligence -  that water activities can be safer and just as much fun!

Did you know that people believe they are better swimmers than they actually are?

A national survey* found that while 85 percent of Americans said they could swim, only 56 percent of the self-described swimmers can perform all five of the basic skills that might help to save their life in the water.

The Red Cross recommends that everyone learn to perform water safety and swimming skills – in this sequence - that are an essential part of being water competent.

1. Step or jump into the water over your head.

2. Return to the surface and float or tread water for one minute.

3. Turn around in a full circle and find an exit.

4. Swim 25 yards to the exit.

5. Exit from the water. If in a pool, be able to exit without using the ladder.

* The national public opinion survey was conducted for the Red Cross February 5-10, 2020, using ORC International's Online CARAVAN omnibus survey.
